Sandy wears Selected Homme knit (available in-store), Daren Jeans by Lee, £85 and Desert Boots by Clarks, £99.
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
"I'm a third generation woodworker from Australia. I work on a range of projects from shop fittings, to bespoke furniture and cabinetry. I've just finished making two globe bases for Bellerby and Co and am straight onto making a bespoke fitted kitchen out of solid oak...
...When I'm not in the workshop I'm hanging out with my wife and chasing after our toddler. We've made the big decision to move back to Australia later this year so it's all hands on deck to get packed up and out of here!"
Tell us some of your favourite places to eat and drink in Stokey.
"There's so many! For a quick lunch I like to pop down to Bahn Mi for a roll, The Thai Cafe is a real hidden gem and the best Thai i've had in London, the garden at The White Hart is great for a beer on a sunny day and for a proper dinner I like a steak at Foxlow."
Where's your favourite local DIY store.
A lot of the local places have closed down over the years but I use J's Decor8 for paint and sanding supplies. I think it's good to try and support local businesses where you can.
What's the best thing about being an independent business?
I like working for myself and being able to pick the work that really interests and challenges me. Being an independent business in Stoke Newington has really made me a part of the community and nearly all of my clients are local, I've met so many great people. I'm going to miss this area a lot when we leave. Hopefully the sunshine will make up for it!
